Are you in a winter slump?

Yikes! It’s cold out there. This has been the worst winter that we’ve had in decades. If it’s not snowing, it’s windy. If it’s not windy, it’s freezing and some days it’s all three.

We are all in hibernation mode; even my doggy doesn’t want to go out for long. How do you keep fit when all you want to do after work is come home and eat your favorite comfort food and snuggle up under your favorite blanket and watch movies for hours until it’s time for bed?

It’s called commitment.

In those dark days of winter no one wants to get out of a warm bed and go to work but you do, right? It’s because of commitment and also the fact that you need money to continue on in life.

Working out is easy when you’re into it but it’s those days when you want to skip it but go anyway that count. That is commitment.

You will always make excuses when it comes to your well- being but you are the most important person to take care of in your life and without your good health and well being then you really have nothing.

So how do you commit to yourself? Mix it up. You wouldn’t want to eat the same thing all day everyday so why do the same workout, the same way and  at the same time everyday. You will get bored and your body will not be challenged or become stronger.

If you’re a morning person keep working out in the morning but maybe take a class or work out with a Personal Trainer. A good trainer can always mix things up, keep you challenged and wake you up.

If you prefer to exercise after work, take your workout outside, join a recreational sports team or take a Yoga or Tai Chi class to relax your body and mind.

Who knows? You may find something that you never thought would interest you now becomes your favorite thing to do. Be adventurous and just keep moving.

All of my clients make that commitment to show up and I have never had a client feel worse after an hour with me than before they came.

So, take that First Step to Maximum Wellness in any direction and you will end up somewhere different than your usual hibernation spot.
